As a result of the wisdom of Iran's great leaders, Iranian cities, especially Isfahan, entered a stage of urban planning, street paving, market making, and also the construction of palace buildings, markets, mosques, madrasas, urban and suburban caravanserais, bridges, baths, pavilions, water reservoirs, pigeon lofts, and many other master plans; and especially facade making, from many branches of new arts, underwent significant transformation with philosophy and values, and this architecture and its related arts became world-renowned.
In short, the artists of this period brought forth artistic phenomena such as delicate mosaic tiles and various colors made of solid and clay tiles, in various designs and patterns, especially in framing, medallion movements, semi-medallions, main medallions, flowing tendrils, Boteh Jegheh flowers, and various types of Shah Abbasi flowers and "dragon mouth" patterns, for all architectural works of Iran, especially madrasas and mosques, and particularly for the great art museum of the world, the incomparable Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque.
The new phenomena of this period include the emergence of carved twisted columns with Boteh Jegheh flower patterns and (Refer to the page images) (Figure 16) Interesting brick Karbandi (structural decoration) in the "Vakil Mosque" of Shiraz, patterns of a type of knotted mosaic calligraphy with the blessed names of Muhammad(s) and Ali(a) in repetitive and alternating forms, and seven-colored earthen tiles known as "Gol-o-Morgh" (Flower and Bird) (Figure 14).
Additionally, in urban architecture and the facade-making of buildings in cities, following European urban planning styles but with Iranian taste, interesting decorations such as brick garland patterns, base-making, spandrel-making with mosaic tile, marquetry, and knotwork, stucco carving, and sculpture, such as the facade of "Saraye Golshan" on Nasser Khosrow Street in Tehran, can be seen in the country's construction.
