چکیده:
Analysis and classification of rural areas of the country's provinces based on the human development index Taghavai Masoud* * University of Isfahan Following the inefficiency of indices in explaining growth and development, for the first time in 1990, in the United Nations development program report, the composite human development index known as HDI was proposed by its experts. This index is obtained from a combination of life expectancy, literacy, and per capita income indices, and uses the minimum, maximum, and the ratio between them in its calculation. In the present writing, an attempt is made to evaluate the level of deprivation and development of the mentioned areas by calculating the human development index of the rural areas of the country's provinces, and after classification, the differences and similarities of rural areas are presented. The deprivation and human development index, while showing the strengths and weaknesses of rural areas, can be considered a suitable basis for reducing regional disparities, and awareness of the level of existing inequality among rural areas is the most important step in providing appropriate strategies and increasing the success rate of intra-regional and extra-regional development and planning methods. Based on the results obtained from calculating the deprivation index, the provinces of Sistan and Baluchestan with an index of 0.941, Kurdistan 0.740, Ilam 0.699, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad 0.678, Zanjan 0.647, West Azerbaijan 0.631, and Hormozgan province with an index of 0.599 are among the most deprived rural areas of the country's provinces. Also, considering the HDI values, Tehran province with an index of one, Fars 0.884, Isfahan 0.791, Yazd 0.740, and Gilan province with an index of 0.736 are ranked first to fifth in terms of the human development index. In a general summary, the HDI classification shows that the provinces of Kurdistan and Sistan and Baluchestan are very deprived in terms of the human development index, and eleven provinces or 43.85 percent of the provinces are among the deprived provinces, and 8 provinces or 33.3 percent of the provinces with a strong HDI index, including developed provinces, and Fars, Tehran, and Isfahan provinces or 12.5 percent of the provinces are considered highly developed areas in terms of the human development index; accordingly, thirteen provinces or 54.14 percent of the studied provinces are considered deprived and very deprived provinces in terms of the HDI index.
