Abstract:
Aim: The present study was conducted aiming to investigate
the effectiveness of unified trans diagnostic treatment on the
differentiation in the couples applying for divorce. Method: It
was a quasi-experimental study with pretest, posttest and
control group design. The statistical population of the present
study included all the couples applying for divorce who
referred to consultation centers in the city of Tehran in three
months of the autumn of 2019. 30 couples applying for
divorce were selected through purposive sampling method
and they were randomly accommodated into experimental and
control groups (each group of 15). The experimental group
received ten ninety-minute sessions of unified trans diagnostic
treatment (Barlow, et al, 2011). 2 couples from the
experimental group and 2 from the control group discontinued
participating in the study after the start of the intervention.
The applied questionnaires in this study included marital
conflict questionnaire (Barati, Sanaei, 1996) and
differentiation questionnaire (Drake, 2011). The data from the
study were analyzed via ANCOVA method. Findings: the
results showed that unified trans diagnostic treatment has
significant effect on the differentiation in the couples
applying for divorce (p<0.001) and this therapy was able to
increase differentiation in these couples. Conclusion: The
findings of the present study showed that unified trans
diagnostic treatment can be used as an efficient therapy to
increase differentiation in the couples applying for divorce
through employing techniques such as the couples’ familiarity
with Recognizing Emotions and Tracking Emotional
Experiences, Learning to Observe Emotional Experiences and
Using Mindfulness Techniques.
