Folk culture is one of the most prevalent folklore materials in narrative texts, and what we mean by heritage in this respect is that heritage that is the voice of the people and determines their identity. It is the product of the human group and transmitted from generation to generation over the ages and times, meaning that it is the product that popular life produces.
Among the most beautiful things that the writers took and used from folklore are tales, rituals, and beliefs. The folk tale is the main element in the oral expression of a culture, and it presents several classifications that relate to the structure of the society in which it lives in a certain period of its life. Besides folk tale folk
customs and traditions are the most widespread elements of folklore.
This study deals with the utilization of folklore in the historical novels of Radwa Ashur. She is considered one of the representative writers who drew on heritage. The reader of Radwa Ashour’s novels sees that they have a great deal of folklore elements. Radwa has employed many folklores, such as proverbs, tales, songs, and beliefs to convey meaning to the reader, which were derived from the social heritage and related especially to what the simple popular class lives. Moreover, customs and traditions occupied an important place in Radwa Ashour’s novels, through which she was able to penetrate deep into the popular community, which suggests the realism of the models emanating from his region and the depth of his feeling that we perceive in the topics raised.
