Abstract:
Intertextuality is a new literary theory that examines the influence between two texts. Intersecurity theory examines the relationship between texts and the influence of contemporary texts from old or contemporary books, and at the beginning of the 20th century, Julia Kristeva presented this theory. So far, many definitions have been given by theorists and writers to explain this literary theory. In the following article, the foundation of the study of intertextuality is laid based on Gerard Genet's theory. Gerard Genet believes that no text has an independent existence, but in every text, a ray of an old or contemporary text can be seen. Based on this, no text is beautiful by itself, but considering the older influences on that text, its beauty and literary importance can be considered. This article aims to answer the question that by reading the poems of Iftikhar Arif in Urdu language, it is possible to address the effects of intertextuality in it. The author aims to show with a descriptive-analytical analysis of hidden and open and direct and indirect intertextuality based on the theory of Gerard Genet in Iftikhar Arif's poetry that this renowned contemporary poet of Pakistan was deeply influenced by the texts before him and He has unconsciously reflected in his poems.
