Abstract:
Inscriptions are one the most important parts of Islamic monuments. The content of the inscriptions is their identity, and through reading and studying them, information can be provided about not only the historical events, but also other important issues such as the history of construction, the names of the founders, creators, architects, artists, etc. The passage of time and historical events have burned down and destroyed many of the monuments so they were then, restored and repaired over time. One of these buildings is the Jame’Mosque of Isfahan, which has kept its importance from the first Islamic era until now and has witnessed many incidents. Meanwhile, various sections of the mosque have been destroyed and damaged several times, and then restored; e.g. Suffa-i Umar. Valuable inscriptions of this ancient monument have also been damaged, and then repaired for several times, and perhaps better to be said rewritten. The author reviewed some of the inscriptions of Jame’Mosque of Isfahan and the newly found inscription of Iwan-i Darvish in an article published in the magazine of Athar in 1998. In recent years, attending the mosque and revising these inscriptions, some new points were found which led to a review. The purpose of this article is to express these new achievements.
