Abstract:
Migration is caused by a number of factors, each of which plays a different role in different parts of the world. One of these factors is drought, which can have a greater impact in arid and semi-arid regions. In addition to this fact, identifying the spatial pattern of migration can also affect the relevant strategies. In the present article, the Standard Precipitation Index was used to monitor the drought in Iran for 30 years from 1986 to 2016. Then, using the frequency of dry months in the year, the country was zoned in the GIS environment. The existence of spatial autocorrelation in data was firstly investigated using the Moran’s I. Then Hot Spot Analysis was performed using Net Migration rate data in the country and migration spatial pattern were identified in the four-time span. Findings showed that the frequency pattern of the occurrence of dry months in the four studied periods is generally increasing from the southeast and south of the country to the north and west. Moran’s I values for net migration rate in the four studied periods are between 0.17 to 0.45 ranges, indicating clustering in migration spatial pattern. Hot spot analysis also showed that immigration hot and coled spot with slight changes located in the center and west of the country. Analyzing the migration and drought spatial pattern showed that migration hot and coled spot are located in places with a high frequency of moderate to high dry months, which is effective in identifying the relationship between the two and can complicate it.
