Abstract:
Identity studies, at both theoretical and empirical levels, have been a subject of interest for researchers and policymakers as a social and political phenomenon framed within "homogenization" and "differentiation." In this article, from the perspective of Ayatollah Khamenei, the impact of the Islamic Revolution on the evolving national identity of Iranians is explained using a conceptual framework of national identity. This framework encompasses two levels: the relational level, consisting of four types of national identity (typological, value-based, emotional, and behavioral), and the dimensional level, comprising seven dimensions of national identity (social, historical, political, religious, cultural, linguistic, and literary). Ayatollah Khamenei addresses the perceived conflict between nationality and religion, emphasizing the historical depth, Islamic faith, and revolutionary spirit of the Iranian people. He asserts that the national identity of a nation is a collection of its cultures, beliefs, desires, aspirations, and behaviors. Utilizing the Grounded Theory method, this study highlights the significant impacts of the Islamic Revolution on the national identity of Iranians, including the achievement of genuine independence, the restoration of dignity, the revival of Islamic values, and the emergence of international prestige.
