Abstract:
The aim of the present study was to investigate the role of emotional schemas in predicting the tendency of addicted male students in Mashhad. In this descriptive-correlational study, among all male and female high school students in Mashhad's Tabadakan district in the academic year of 2018-2019, 100 people were selected based on Morgan's Georgian table by stratified sampling method. The research tools were the questionnaires of Lehi et al.'s (2002) emotional schemas and the tendency to addiction to Farchad (2006). Data were analyzed using SPSS statistical software version 22 and Pearson correlation tests and multivariate regression analysis. The results showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between emotional schemas with addiction tendency and emotional schemas predict addiction tendency (P <0.01). Therefore, the results of the study show the importance of emotional schemas in students' addiction

Emotional schemas, addiction tendency, students Journal of New Strategies in Psychology and Educational Sciences, Volume 2, Number 8, Winter 2020 Introduction The World Health Organization considers the issue of drugs, including production, distribution, and consumption, alongside three other global issues—namely the production and accumulation of weapons of mass destruction, environmental pollution, poverty, and class divide—as fundamental problems that have posed serious threats and challenges to human life in social, economic, cultural, and political dimensions on the global stage (World Health Organization 1 , 2010).
The statistical population of the present research included all male students of the first and second secondary school periods in the Tabadokan region of Mashhad in the academic year 1397-1398; based on the Krejcie and Morgan table, 100 people were selected using stratified sampling (multiplicity in educational period and grade level).
To predict students' addiction tendency based on emotional schemas, the multiple linear regression test was used.
Based on the obtained results, the schemas of non-acceptance, emotional simplification, rumination, lack of evaluation, mistrust, lack of understanding, poor expression, and lack of control predict addiction tendency positively, while logicalness predicts it negatively.
Therefore, the present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the role of emotional schemas in predicting the addiction tendency of male students in Tabadokan, Mashhad.
