In the motor chain, the hip muscles play an important role in motor activity. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of isometric contraction on electromyographic activity of selected lower limb muscles in different rotations of the hip in pelvic drop movement.Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study involving 15 female students of Allameh Tabatabai University who had three sessions of exercise per week participated in this study.participants performed pelvic drop movement at neutral, 15 degrees internal rotation, and 20 degrees external rotation angles of the hip joint with and without isometric contraction of the hip. Electromyographic information of maximal muscle activity of the gluteusmedius, tensorfascialata, and quadratuslumbarum in pelvic drop motion was recorded by electromyogram Recorded by electromyogram device. For data analysis, SPSS software version 24 and repeated measures ANOVA were used with a significance level of less than 0/05.Results: The results showed that there were significant differences in the activity of gluteusmedius, tensorfascialata, and quadratuslumbarum muscles (p = 0.001) in all three angles with and without force. The activity of the gluteusmedius muscle was greater at 15° internal and neutral rotation with and without force, and the activity of the tensorfascialata, and quadratuslumbarum muscles were greater at 20° external rotation with and without force. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that pelvic drop with and without isometric contraction can be considered as an effective method to increase activity and strengthen the gluteusmedius and reduce tensorfascialata activity in healthy women.
