The purpose of this study is to identify the types of network capabilities of large and small firms in the biopharmaceutical networks of the country. Therefore, at first, by reviewing the theoretical foundations and interviewing a number of experts in the field of biopharmaceutical networks in the public, industrial and academic sectors, and using the theme analysis method, the types of network capabilities of companies were identified. In the second part, with a quantitative approach and confirmatory factor analysis using Smart-Pls software and by distributing a questionnaire among senior managers of large and small biopharmaceutical firms, the identified dimensions were finally approved. According to the findings, the ability to be active in the network and network management, were identified as the two main themes of network capabilities. Intra-organizational and extra-organizational capabilities were identified as sub-themes of active presence in the network and networking and orchestration capabilities were identified as sub-themes of network management capability. Findings also show that small firms have more general capabilities of active presence in the network and network management capability is related to larger firms, which are often known as hub. Finally, small and large biopharmaceutical firms, based on their role in networks, should pay attention to two categories of general capability and network management capability to succeed in networks.
