چکیده:
Contemporary history of Iran has witnessed the presence of various political ideologies, including liberalism, socialism, and nationalism, alongside Islam. In this writing, by referring to competing ideologies, Islam is addressed as the ideology of the Islamic Revolution and the reasons for its success in the triumph of the Islamic Revolution are discussed. The common feature of the aforementioned ideologies was that they were non-indigenous, imported, imitative, and lacked intellectual and cultural homogeneity with the religious culture of the Iranian people; their failure was also due to their lack of affinity and homogeneity with the religious culture. Despite fluctuations throughout history, Islamic thought and ideology, due to having transformative and inspiring teachings—such as the leadership and Wilayat al-Faqih of the Shia jurists during the Occultation, the deeming of tyrannical governments as illegitimate, and the homogeneity of Shia political thought with the religious and national culture of the Iranian people—became the most effective ideology in the transformations of contemporary Iranian history, especially the Islamic Revolution.

The separation of religion from politics, which was a product of the British Embassy and was promoted by West-oriented intellectuals, accompanied by the despair and hopelessness resulting from the failure of the Constitutional movement and the events following it, led to the dormancy and isolation of scholars and religious leaders; so much so that the Imam, recalling that era, said: القاى شعار جدايى دين از سياست كه متأسفانه اين حربه در حوزه و روحانيت تا اندازهاى كارگر شده است تا جايى كه دخالت در سياست دون شأن فقيه و ورود در معركه سياسيون تهمت وابستگى به اجانب را به همراه مىآورد؛.....
Despite the fundamental role of Islam and the specific culture of the school of Shiism in the political-social mobilization of the Iranian nation and creating motivation and the ability to struggle in the people, especially in recent centuries, the struggle and uprising were not against the principle of dynasties and monarchical governments, the ruling stronghold, and aimed at overthrowing the ruling political system.
In line with providing political awareness to the people, the Imam considered comprehensive "proselytizing and education" of Islam as two important elements for creating a social movement aimed at reforming society and said: Our duty is to strive from now on for the foundation of an Islamic government of truth, to proselytize, to give instructions, to create like-mindedness, to create a wave of propaganda and thought so that a social current emerges and gradually, conscious, duty-oriented, and religious masses are formed in the Islamic movement, rise up, and establish an Islamic government.
