چکیده:
The present study has investigated the relationship between lifestyle, as an indicator of the globalization process, and body image. To this end, 508 women residing in Shiraz were selected using a systematic sampling method. Based on existing theories and previous studies, the theoretical framework of the research is based on Giddens' theory, and six hypotheses have been proposed accordingly. The required information was collected using a survey method and a self-report questionnaire. To analyze and explain the data, one-way analysis of variance and multivariate regression statistical methods were employed. The results obtained show that among the factors affecting body image, only leisure, religious, and modern musical lifestyles were able to explain more than 22 percent of the changes in the dependent variable, respectively. Among these, except for religious lifestyles which had a negative relationship with body image, other lifestyles had a positive relationship with the dependent variable.
خلاصه ماشینی:
Ultimately, considering the research results conducted in other countries and the pathological complications of sensitivity to the body and its appearance that have occurred for traditional groups, especially youth in other countries, it can be concluded that if this trend is not placed under scientific control in Iranian society and we do not make young people relatively aware of it, we will find painful consequences among them, as is currently the case where facial plastic surgeries, on one hand, have imposed heavy costs on families and, on the other hand, due to the failure of many of these surgical procedures, irreparable injuries have been caused to a number of young people.
The results showed that among the investigated variables, marital status, social class, respondent's occupational status, education and parental income, number of children, and finally various lifestyles (religious, leisure, participatory, modern musical) at the bivariate analysis level had a significant relationship with the body perception variable.
The results obtained showed that among the variables present in the equation, only leisure, religious, and modern musical lifestyles, respectively, were able to explain nearly 23 percent of the changes in the dependent variable (body perception) in the studied sample of women living in Shiraz.
