چکیده:
A significant portion of Iran's ecotourism potential lies within protected areas, but limited use of this potential for regional empowerment has occurred. This research seeks the sustainable development of the region through delimiting usable areas and locating tourism destinations. Therefore, by using a modified ecological land-use suitability model for tourism and integrating it with socio-economic, infrastructural, and legal indices affecting the location of tourism destinations in GIS software, the tourism destinations, locations, and maps for the Central Alborz Protected Area were produced. The results show that 86.3 percent of the area has sufficient environmental and social capacity for tourism, of which 12.01 percent is the best option for ecotourism. The main focus of tourism destinations is around the west-east and north-east axis of the region. The final destinations are functionally classified into four levels: local, regional, national, and international, with the highest frequency being at the international level at 80.02 percent.
خلاصه ماشینی:
Therefore, using a modified ecological land-use suitability model for tourism and integrating it with social-economic, infrastructural, and legal indicators affecting the location of tourism destinations in GIS software, the tourism destinations in the Central Alborz Protected Area, their location, and a map of them were produced.
The biological diversity of the region in terms of plant and animal species, geomorphology, and diverse ancient urban, rural, and tribal settlements (in the not-so-distant past), especially in the northern strip of the region, combined with the existence of multiple and diverse natural and cultural tourism attractions and proximity to Iran's largest natural tourism market, namely the Caspian coasts and the forested regions of the north of the country, and the visits of various groups of tourists, has turned this region into a complete example of protected areas with intra-zone development potential through tourism.
Therefore, this study attempts, as an applied research, to provide the possibility of operationalizing such projects by determining and defining the indicators effective on the site selection of tourism destinations, and to take an effective step in the sustainable development of protected areas and increasing the human development level of the communities living in them.
Table No. 6: Extent of zones suitable for extensive tourism {Refer to the attached table file} Results and findings of social and economic indicators There are 315 settlements in the region which, according to the 1385 census, 269 cases are populated.
