چکیده:
The aim of the present research is to assess the feasibility of controlling subject headings in Persian medical databases in the internet environment. Based on the research method, 50 keywords were randomly selected from the keywords used by internet users to search for articles in the information section of the Central Library of Bushehr University of Medical Sciences. First, in the pre-test stage, these keywords were searched in the IranMedex Persian medical article database, and the results obtained were recorded. These keywords were matched with the Persian medical thesaurus, and if they existed in this thesaurus, they were entered into a database specifically designed for this research in the Access environment. Then, the database of documented keywords was entered into the IranMedex database in coordination with the officials of the IranMedex database, searched again, and the results were recorded. The results showed that documentation control, with a very high percentage, leads to more accurate information retrieval and prevents false attrition. The results of this research can provide a model for using thesauri as documentation control tools in other databases available on the internet, in order to improve information storage and retrieval processes in the internet environment.

In this research, the subject of controlling medical information documentation available on the internet is investigated, and by studying one of the reputable medical databases in Persian, the extent of the impact of using a thesaurus as a tool for indexing control and its adaptation to new environments is studied.
The results of preliminary investigations and observations conducted in the information section of the Central Library of Bushehr University of Medical Sciences indicate that most internet users perform their searches based on subject keywords.
Therefore, in this research, an attempt has been made to investigate the issue of aligning the language of producers with information users (authority control1) with an approach suitable for the internet environment, and by studying one of the reputable medical databases in Persian, to explain the method of using a thesaurus as a tool for authority control and its adaptation to new environments.
