چکیده:
The aim of this research is to explain the relationship between literary theory and criticism and comparative literature, as well as to examine the challenges and capacities of this relationship. First, the reasons for the existence of a close relationship between these two fields are examined. Then, the use of non-native (foreign) theories for reading native cultural products is proposed as a solution in literary and comparative literature research. Additionally, the importance and necessity of such an approach in the field of comparative literature are mentioned. After six decades, there is still talk of a 'crisis in comparative literature.' The emergence of the crisis initially stemmed from the relationship between comparative literature and literary theory and criticism. The interdependence of these two is not only due to their similarities in definition but also due to their shared importance, necessity, goals, and ideals. The continuation of the crisis in comparative literature in a new form (identity crisis) is also a result of changes in the status of literary theory and criticism at the level of scientific and academic assemblies. Despite this and the (justified) complaint in comparative literature regarding the application of foreign theories to read native works, constructive and conscious interaction between these two fields can create new capacities in literary research. Such interaction will guarantee the growth and diversity of both fields.
