چکیده:
Cognitive poetics theory offers a theory of literature based on the language of literary texts and the type of arrangement of linguistic units, and is also based on cognitive linguistic strategies, including syllogistic reasoning. Based on Margaret Freeman's (2000) theoretical framework, every text has three levels of mapping: feature mapping, relational mapping, and system mapping. At the first level, the perception of similarity between objects is examined. At the second level, the relationships between objects are analyzed, and at the third level, existing patterns are identified through the relationships between objects, which allows for generalization to a much more abstract structure. In this research, to examine the performance of this theory, we examine a poem by Ahmad Shamlou. This article seeks to answer this question: How can cognitive poetics theory act as a suitable literary theory for systematic analysis and reading of a work? The hypothesis of the article is that every theory must have seven criteria to be considered a suitable theory, and cognitive poetics provides a powerful tool for creating a distinction between linguistic function and poetic function; furthermore, general mapping skills, which constitute the cognitive ability to produce and interpret metaphor, are the foundations of this theory that can clarify the insights and limitations of traditional literary criticism. Additionally, the application of cognitive poetics can identify and evaluate literary style. The main goal of the research is to show how the language and structure of poetry differ from everyday language or other genres, and how the systematic reading of any poem occurs in light of 'system mapping'.
خلاصه ماشینی:
Reading the poem "Hekayat" by Ahmad Shamlou with a cognitive poetics approach * Leila Sadeghi PhD student in General Linguistics, University of Tehran, Tehran, Iran Received: 2011/11/27 Accepted: 2012/02/06 Abstract Cognitive poetics theory offers a theory about literature that is based on the language of literary texts and the type of arrangement of linguistic units, and it is also based on cognitive linguistic techniques, including analogical reasoning.
The hypothesis of the article is that every theory must possess seven criteria to be considered an appropriate theory, and cognitive poetics provides a powerful tool for creating a distinction between linguistic function and poetic function; furthermore, general mapping skills, which constitute the cognitive ability to produce and interpret metaphor, are the foundations of this theory that can clarify the insights and limitations of traditional literary criticism.
In general, humans construct and conceptualize their world in metaphors such as container or path, and this occurs through the process of analogical mapping; as seen in the poem "Hekayat" (The Tale) Shamlou is seen: The musician entered with a lark singing on the handle of his instrument.
5. Conclusion As observed in the analysis of the poem based on the theory of cognitive poetics, analogical mapping occurs at three levels: feature, relational, and system, which represent the cognitive layers of the text.
