چکیده:
The present article has been written with the aim of conducting a comparative study of orientational conceptual metaphors in the Persian and Spanish languages. In this article, an attempt has been made to use the classification of Lakoff and Johnson (1980) of conceptual metaphors, specifically focusing only on the category of orientational metaphors among structural, orientational, and ontological metaphors, to examine data from the Spanish language and investigate the application of these metaphors at the level of metaphorical mapping and linguistic representation in the Persian language. An analysis of 38 samples of orientational conceptual metaphors in the form of 15 mapping nouns—extracted from the Spanish novel 'Conversation in the Cathedral' by Mario Vargas Llosa, a collection of articles about conceptual metaphors in Spanish, and some oral data—reached the conclusion that the similarities between conceptual metaphors based on human perception of the category of 'direction' between the two languages are significantly greater than the differences. This result demonstrates the fundamental position of spatial perception and directional perception as the origin of the formation of conceptual metaphors in abstract domains. On the other hand, attention to the differences between the Persian and Spanish languages in the structure of conceptual metaphors confirms the influence of culture on the structure of conceptual metaphors.
خلاصه ماشینی:
In this article, an effort has been made so that among the classification of Lakoff 2 and Johnson 3 (1980) of conceptual metaphors,4 in the form of structural,5 orientational, and ontological 6 metaphors, only the category of orientational metaphor be examined based on data from the Spanish language, and the application of this metaphor at the level of metaphorical mapping 7 and linguistic representation 8 in the Persian language be analyzed.
On the other hand, how can the potential similarities and differences of conceptual metaphors in the two languages, Persian and Spanish, be explained cognitively, and most importantly, do the differences relate to the inferential and mapping level, or are they exclusive to the linguistic representation of mapping in the language?
