چکیده:
Comparative literature is one of the most important literary genres that helps us find common aspects in the thoughts of the world's great figures—who are separated from each other in time and space—and reaches the points of unity in human thought, showing how an idea presented by a thinker, writer, or poet at one point in the world finds expression in another way at another point. The present article is a comparative look at the poetry, thought, context, and era of two renowned poets from two different cultures and civilizations: T.S. Eliot (1888-1965) English and Ahmad Shamlou (1926-2000) Iranian. The eras of these two poets have had similarities from various political, social, and cultural perspectives, which ultimately led to the production of similar works and ideas. Shamlou is known in Iran as a social poet who, like Eliot, lived in a sensitive and turbulent period. Eliot was influenced by the World War and the era of Modernism, and the Iranian poet also experienced the August 19th coup, World War II, and the transition period from a traditional society to a modern one. In this article, first, a brief discussion is held regarding the word 'modern' and 'modernity' in Europe and Iran, then using the method of comparative criticism and relying on the components of literary modernity and modernism, a comparison is made between the common themes in the works of Eliot and Shamlou. Many similarities can be found between Shamlou and Eliot for comparative study, and given the extensive mental and linguistic similarities between the two poets and considering the many similarities in their shared lived experiences, it can be concluded that similar living conditions can always produce homogeneous literary works.

Many similarities can be found between Shamlou and Eliot for comparative study, and considering the many mental and linguistic similarities between the two poets and paying attention to the many similarities in their shared life experiences, it can be concluded that similar living conditions can always produce homogeneous literary works.
In comparative literature, more than anything else, one can reach the points of unity in human thought, showing how an idea is presented by a thinker, man of letters, or poet at one point in the world, and at another point, that same idea finds expression in a different way.
